Dear Parents,

This year, your child will have the opportunity to be the "Star of the Week".  While your child is the Star, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

ü Poster Share: The star student will be given a special poster the week before and will bring the completed poster back on Monday to start off his or her special week.

ü  Me in the Bag:  Please help your child collect some special items from home so they may show the class and explain the meaning of the objects.  We will share their treasures on Tuesday.

ü  Parent Letter:  Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you.  Send the gold star letter back to school in a sealed envelope.  I will read the letter to the class on Wednesday.  The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas:  describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, tell about special things you and your child have done together (trips, traditions), or write a short story with your child as the main character.

ü  Favorite Book:  Your child may bring in one of their favorite books to be read on Thursday during Read-Aloud time.  They may also pick a special book from the classroom to be read.

ü  Star Friends:  The star student will be presented with a friendship book created by his or her classmates on Friday.  The book will include the Star’s picture, pages of compliments written by his or her classmates, and the parent letter.
