Guided Reading:  I will work in small groups and individually with the children.  The children will read texts that are at their instructional level and practice reading strategies.  Each child will work with me at least once a week.  As I guide the students through the text, it will be developing comprehension and confidence.  When not at guided reading, the children will work with others in various center activities.

Shared Reading(Big Book): We will share a story every other week together that is rich in language and has a rhythmical pattern.  Shared reading is done as a whole class and is a relaxing and fun way for the teacher to demonstrate and support what good readers do.  We will also be doing Shared Reading using poems weekly!

Shared Reading(basal):The curriculum includes a weekly story that builds phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and exposure to various genres of literature.  Our spelling chunk will also come from these stories.
